This card offers 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets up to $6,000 per year. Like the Preferred card, once you pass that amount you continue to earn cash back at a rate of 1%. You’ll also earn 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and on U.S. online retail shopping purchases, which also earns the 1% rate after passing the $6,000 threshold per category. We recommend this card if you don’t want to deal with an annual fee while still being able to earn significant amounts back on groceries and gas.

3. American Express® Gold Card
The American Express® Gold Card is a premium rewards credit card that offers 4x Membership Rewards® points on the two categories where you spend the most each month: at U.S. supermarkets and at restaurants worldwide.
