Frankly, Costco’s $1.50 hotdog combo couldn’t be beaten – until a few days ago!
If you’ve ever shopped at Costco, you know what it feels like to reward yourself with a hot dog after strenuously shopping for deals. The Costco hot dog combo has been around since 1985 and has kept its $1.50 price tag throughout its existence, dominating the wholesale shopping world.
Costco’s Co-Founder is very adamant about keeping the price of the hotdog at $1.50. He said to his employees – “If you raise the [price of the] effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.” in the midst of raising prices.
At this point, Costco’s famous hot dog and soda combo is no secret, but there’s a new dog in town!
Sam’s Club has lowered its price of the hot dog combo to $1.38, beating Costco’s once unbeatable price. For Sam’s Club to beat a price that has been dominating for decades, they are making a statement.
At a time when food prices are rising, Sam’s Club found a way to decrease its price on a staple of wholesale retailers, bringing great value to its customers.
Doug McMillon, Sam’s Club CEO says the reasoning behind the price drop was to offer deals and discounts to loyal customers at a time when it’s hard to find them.
The deal is the exact same as Costco’s – offering a 1/4 pound hot dog with condiments you can add, plus a soda to quench your thirst.
Sam’s Club offers cheaper prices on quality items, and right now are running a deal on their annual membership price. If you are finding that Costco’s memberships are too expensive, Sam’s Club is offering a yearly membership for 50% off. Hop on this deal now before it’s too late, and grab yourself a hotdog on the way out!
